MacConkey agar media aid in the isolation and differentiation of gram-negative bacterial isolates. It serves as an indicator, selective, and differential media, which determines the growth or presence of the gram-negative enteric bacilli from the different samples that are important for the sanitary purpose.

M Heterotrophic Plate Count (m HPC) Agar in a 60 × 15 mm format is designed for enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in potable water, recreational water, and wastewater using the membrane filtration technique. Each plate contains approximately 10 mL of nutrient rich agar optimized to support growth of a wide range of environmental microorganisms. The formulation contains peptone and gelatin which provide readily available sources of nitrogen and carbon. These nutrients help recover stressed or chlorine injured bacteria that may be present in treated water systems. Heterotrophic plate count testing is widely used as a general indicator of microbiological water quality. Elevated HPC levels can indicate distribution system problems, bacterial regrowth, or inefficiencies in filtration or disinfection processes.

Our Minimal Glucose Agars are specifically formulated for use in bacterial mutagenicity assays. Along with the standard formulation as described by Maron & Ames, Mutat. Res. 113:173, 1983, MOLTOX offers various other formulations such as histidine and biotin supplemented bottom agar. Our MGA's are offered in case quantities or individual sleeves. MOLTOX provides all products necessary to conduct the Salmonella, E. coli, MOLTOX FT™, µAmes and UMU Mutagenicity Assays. All products are formulated and manufactured using the highest quality components and are consistent with the recommendations set forth by the historical literature corresponding to each test type. Certain Ames materials (e.g. STDiscs™ and Lyophilized S9) have been specifically developed in our laboratory for these assays. All products are thoroughly tested for performance in the assay and are accompanied by Quality Control and Formulation statements.

Pseudomonas P, or Tech Agar, enhances pyocyanin production by Pseudomonas and therefore used for the differentiation of pseudomonads. Pseudomonas F (Flo) Agar enhances fluorescin production by Pseudomonas and therefore used for the differentiation of pseudomonads. Also known as Pseudosel Agar, Cetrimide Agar is used as a selective isolation and identification media for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Each lot of media from MOLTOX is tested for sterility, where applicable, and its ability to support the growth of the appropriate microorganism. All media are accompanied by GLP-compliant formulation and Quality Control certificate.

LB Agar, Miller, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and propagating E. coli. LB Agar, Miller contains twice the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Lennox formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Miller plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. Used as an industry standard for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli and for the preparation of plasmid DNA, MOLTOX offers a large selection of LB Agars and Broths with plenty of added antibiotics to choose from for a more selective media. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.
